Belen Books, LLC. operates in a global publishing environment, distributing books and educational materials internationally through established partners and supply networks.

 

Although we are a United States–based company, we recognize that ethical responsibility does not stop at national boundaries. We therefore align our practices with internationally recognized human rights, labor, and transparency standards.

 

We are committed to conducting our operations in a manner consistent with the expectations of the global communities we serve.

 

United Kingdom

We support the principles set forth in the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, which promotes transparency in supply chains and the prevention of forced labor, servitude, and human trafficking.

 

In alignment with this legislation, Belen Books:

  • Maintains a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery

  • Reviews supplier relationships for ethical and labor standards

  • Promotes transparency in our business practices

  • Publishes formal statements outlining our commitments

 

Our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement reflects these principles.

 

Canada

We support the objectives of Canada’s Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act (2023) and related federal and provincial human rights protections.

 

Consistent with these standards, Belen Books:

  • Seeks reputable and ethically operating suppliers

  • Avoids partnerships where labor conditions cannot be reasonably verified

  • Promotes fair and lawful working conditions throughout our supply chain

  • Commits to ongoing due diligence and responsible sourcing

 

As we expand our international presence, we aim to meet or exceed the ethical expectations established by Canadian institutions and regulatory frameworks.

 

International Human Rights Standards

More broadly, our practices are informed by globally recognized principles, including:

  • The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

  • International Labour Organization (ILO) core labor standards

  • Fair labor and anti-trafficking best practices

 

These frameworks guide our decisions regarding partnerships, production, and distribution.
